Packed House for Kick Off & 10 from the 10th Event

Dan Seals addressed a packed house Thursday night at his Congressional Campaign Kick Off Event. The Highland Park Recreation center hosted the overflow crowd who cheered Seals’ decision to run in the 2010 race. The crowd was treated to a video, available soon on his website, of his personal story with touching interviews from family members describing Seals as determined, knowledgeable and sensitive to the concerns of his constituents.
Seals outlined his campaign plan to win the district fueled by his passion for public service, his knowledge of the district and the people he has met along the campaign trail. In honor of the first annual National Day of Service, signed into law by President Obama this past spring, Seals honored ten individuals from the tenth district who’s personal stories of service inspired him. In his introduction he stated “Each one of the people behind me stood up when it counted and often when it wasn’t easy. Each one overcame challenges while fighting for their values and standing up for others.” After introducing them and summarizing their considerable accomplishments, he concluded, “I know something about their determination. I know something about standing up when it isn’t easy to do. Together, we will stand to fight for our values even though we know it will be difficult.”
Describing the political landscape in Washington he said the national Republicans have become the “party of No.” Seals wants to move the country forward by addressing the economic concerns people have about increasing costs to families, like healthcare, energy and education. He believes the key lies in better spending, not more spending.
