Economy
The Administration’s efforts to avert an economic depression seem to be working, but we still have more to do if our economy is going to work for more Americans. >>Read more
National Debt
The national debt currently stands at an astounding $11.8 trillion dollars, or about $38,000 owed for every American. Rising interest on the debt impedes progress on domestic issues and punts down our fiscal responsibility to our children. >>Read more
Israel
I am absolutely committed to the safety and security of Israel. As a Member of Congress, I will be committed to the security of America’s only truly democratic ally in the region, Israel — and to the belief that Israel’s gain is our gain, and Israel’s struggles are our struggles. >>Read more
Women’s Rights
Despite several historic triumphs for gender equality, women continue to absorb a disproportionate share of social, economic and personal challenges in American society. Dan will fight to fix the gender disparities that still exist in wage discrepancies, health insurance premiums, and family responsibility. >>Read more
Health Care
Our system costs too much and covers too few. If we do nothing, we know what will happen: costs will continue to rise by 10 percent annually, hundreds of thousands more families will lose insurance each year, and businesses will continue to be put at a competitive disadvantage as they shoulder a health care burden that competitors overseas do not.>>Read more
Immigration
Our immigration system is badly broken. For six years, the Republican Party controlled the White House, the Supreme Court, the Senate, and the House of Representatives—but all we got on immigration was a lot of talk and no action. It is time we moved passed empty rhetoric and pursued practical solutions. >>Read more
Civil Rights & Liberties
Every American, regardless of race, creed, or religion has a right to liberty and the pursuit of happiness. As we work to keep our nation safe, we must also work to protect these freedoms. >>Read more
Environment & Energy
The threat to our environment is the overarching moral challenge of our time. Our success in ending our addiction to foreign oil and fossil fuels is inextricably intertwined with our economic prosperity and national security. We all breathe the same air, drink the same water, and till the same soil. Progress on these issues requires courage and a commitment to the health and well-being of future generations. >>Read more
Seniors
Dan Seals believes our senior citizens need to have their rights and benefits fully protected into the future. We’ve made a promise to ourselves that nobody in this country who has spent their life working hard for our society will be left out in the cold as they age. >>Read more
Veterans
Some have characterized the delivery of care and support to our veterans and their families as a “challenge,” While this is accurate, it does not adequately capture our task. Caring for veterans and their families is an obligation, a responsibility, and a reckoning.>>Read more
Education
It has been said that at the starting line of life, everyone deserves an equal opportunity. Our education system needs to reflect that aspiration. From early education to adult education, we need to make changes in order to ensure that more Americans are able to compete in the international marketplace. >>Read more
LGBT Rights
Fundamentally, the rights outlined in our constitution must apply to all Americans equally. I see LGBT issues as civil rights issues and will work to ensure that Americans in the LGBT community have the same rights as all Americans. I will also support various efforts aimed at mitigating the prejudice and biases that thrive in ignorance. >>Read more
Science & Technology
Dan understands innovation is one of the long-term keys to achieving a vibrant economy and higher standard of living, and that’s why he is proud to support a broad array of scientific and technological research. Whether the issue is health and medicine, conservation and the environment, technology and energy, or psychology and human development, Dan understands that many benefits of modern life are due in part to scientific breakthroughs. That’s why as congressman, he’ll work to get researchers the funding they need in order to help all of us live better, longer, happier lives.>>Read more
Afghanistan
While Dan Seals supports many of President Obama’s initiatives, he does not support the escalation of the war in Afghanistan. Between U.S. Forces, NATO troops, and Afghan troops we already have roughly 200,000 troops in Afghanistan to fight the much smaller Taliban force. He is skeptical of whether 30,000 additional troops will make the difference to achieving our long term aims in Afghanistan. >>Read more
Special Needs
According to the 2000 U.S. Census data, more than 13.2% of individuals in the 10th Congressional District are classified as having a disability. Any member of our society can become disabled at any point in time; this is the largest minority group in the country and it does not discriminate. As a nation, we have a duty to meet the needs of this population in every aspect of their lives. >>Read more
