The turnout for our Summer Campaign Kickoff this past Saturday was outstanding! The rain didn’t stop volunteers from coming to our Deerfield office for a cookout and a canvass. Our attendees dined on excellent hot dogs and burgers. After the delicious lunch they ventured out, going door to door all over the district to speak to voters. I could not have imagined a better start to our summer campaign.
If we missed you at the kickoff but you would like to help out, please let us know. The campaign is hosting canvasses every weekend and we need your help! There are lots of ways you can help, so give us a call. You can call the office at (847) 945-8900, send us an email at info@dansealsforcongress.com or sign up on our volunteer page. Hope to see you soon.

“It is with great shock and a heavy heart that I offer my deepest condolences to the family and friends of State Representative Eddie Washington.
Eddie’s constituents and colleagues knew him as a fighter, as he would often say, for the least among us. His friends knew him as a compassionate soul, fiercely loyal and genuinely caring. Eddie made education, justice, and respect for all members of our society his life’s work. We will be proud to carry on his legacy by recommitting ourselves to the same.
His wife Flor, seven children, and all who loved him will remember a devoted husband, a loving father, and an unwavering friend. I am honored to have known him. He will be greatly missed.”

This weekend we observe Memorial Day and remember those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our great nation. Although it has been a federal holiday since 1971, Americans have taken this last weekend in May to honor the fallen since the Civil War. As you enjoy your weekend, spending time with friends and family, please don’t forget to take a moment to recognize and honor those who gave their lives so that we might have the freedom to enjoy such a holiday with our loved ones. On Monday, my family and I will pay our respects to our servicemen and women. I hope you will honor our heroes too.

Last night I attended a Midwest celebration for Natural Resources Defense Council in Winnetka. The NRDC is one of the nation’s most effective environmental action groups, and boasts a membership of 1.3 million Americans. I was among the many guests last night captivated by a speech from the featured guest; Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. Mr. Kennedy is a senior attorney for the NRDC and was named one of Time.com’s “Heroes for the Planet” for his work with the environment. He argued that good environmental policy is good economic policy, and that a more efficient energy system will make us more competitive – not less. A special thanks to Mr. Kennedy for coming to the 10th District and speaking on behalf of the NRDC.
