Great Lakes Annual Clean Up
“You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.” –Winston Churchill
I believe that service to our community is not just something to talk about–it is something we should do. So I have made service an integral part of our campaign. For example, a team of volunteers and I recently volunteered for the Maot Chitim of Greater Chicago. This is a year-round volunteer effort to collect food and deliver packages to the needy during Passover and Rosh Hashanah. We helped pack over 900 boxes of food for the start of Rosh Hashanah. It was a lot of work, a lot of fun, and tremendously rewarding.
I’m writing you now in hopes that you will want to join us for our next effort: cleaning up our beaches.
In August I wrote you about the pollution on some of our beaches, and invited you to join me in doing something about it. Well, we are joining the Alliance for the Great Lakes’ Adopt-a-Beach program in an effort to clean up the waterfront of Lake Michigan. Environment protection requires action now. Help preserve the beauty we are so lucky to have in our own back yard. We get so many great benefits from Lake Michigan, ranging from drinking water to days at the beach to a diverse plant and animal life. How about giving something back? Let’s preserve the health of our lake for future generations.
Please come help the Great Beach Clean Up on one of these dates:
Sept. 12th at Park Ave Beach in Highland Park at 31 Park Ave from 9:00-noon.
Sept. 19th at Tower Beach in Winnetka at Tower and Sheridan from 9:00-noon.
Your attendance will make a difference!
Best,
Dan
